מחזיקים בה ותומכיהThe Pillars and the Bow
maḥazikim bah ve-tomkhehaIn Gamatria ↗
Two pillars hold up the learning; the bow aims only true.
Netzach and Hod, called the 'supporters' of Torah, are imitated by sustaining those who learn: providing food, books and a study hall, praising their efforts, and stirring others toward Torah. The learner himself should learn from every person; Scripture links especially to Netzach, Mishnah to Hod, and Talmud joins both. Yesod, Foundation, is the sign of the covenant; its practice is guarding even against permitted speech that leads to impure thoughts (Ecclesiastes 5:5). The upper bow, the rainbow, is drawn only toward its proper target, Malkhut; so a man should direct desire only toward his wife, in her purity.
