Learning that bends low lets the light flow down.

Tiferet, Beauty, the central sefirah, corresponds to Torah study. Its danger is pride: one who grows proud in Torah causes Tiferet to rise away and stop flowing down, while one who lowers himself causes it to descend. Three cases mirror the lower sefirot: being gentle with students (Netzach and Hod), honoring the poor, as Elijah taught R. Shimon ben Elazar (Yesod), and respecting ordinary people (Malkhut). Disputes in Torah should be for the sake of Heaven and end in peace; Torah must not be used for personal gain; and one should always concede the truth, so that Tiferet, the attribute of truth, is found there.
