Gevurah, Strength or judgment, is stirred whenever the evil inclination stirs, for a person was formed with two inclinations matching Chesed and Gevurah. Citing the Zohar that the good inclination was created for a man himself and the evil one for his wife's sake, Cordovero says the evil inclination must stay bound, never roused for one's own lust, money, anger or honor, since that strengthens the harsh judgments. It may be stirred gently for the household, clothing her and providing a home, which he understands as adorning the Shekhinah. Every desire is then to be bound to the right side and turned to God's service.
