משורר התשובהThe Poet of Return
meshorer ha-teshuvahIn Gamatria ↗
The sorrow of return must become a song of revival.
The last chapter, written in the Land of Israel in the early 1920s, ties return to Jewish national revival. The rebirth of the nation is the foundation of the great return: Israel's higher return first, then the return of the whole world. Kook asks that the feelings of return, in all their beauty and depth, be voiced in literature, so the generation of revival can learn return in a living, fresh way. He hopes for a 'poet of return' who will also be the poet of life and of the nation's soul. Excessive dread of return makes us push it away. Its sorrow must turn into renewing, healing song.
