הרהורי תשובהThe Mere Thought of Return

hirhurei teshuvahIn Gamatria ↗

A single thought of turning already holds a whole bright world.

Even a passing thought of return brings comfort. One small point of its light already holds a whole exalted world, and it keeps before the person the duties still to be completed, guarding against complacency. Kook urges deep faith that the thought of return alone repairs much in oneself and in the world. After each such thought one should be happier and more at peace than before, as in Isaiah 66:13, 'as one whom his mother comforts'. Wrongs against other people that one cannot yet put right must not lead to despair, though one keeps working on them. At its deepest, recalling a sin should even stir great joy.
