אור בהיר הוא בשחקיםBright Light in Clouds
or bahir hu ba-shchakimIn Gamatria ↗
Even the darkness is not dark to You.
The book opens with R. Nechunya ben HaKanah setting verses against each other. Job speaks of a light that is bright (bahir) in the skies, too bright to look at. The Psalms say God makes darkness His hiding place and is ringed by cloud and fog. A third verse settles the conflict: for God darkness is not dark, and night shines like day. Light and concealment are not rivals; they are one reality seen from two sides. The book takes its name from this word bahir, bright.
