עשר ספירותTen Fingers, Ten Sefirot

eser sefirotIn Gamatria ↗

Ten fingers raised; ten powers that seal the world.

Why do the priests raise their hands to bless? Their ten fingers hint at the ten sefirot by which heaven and earth were sealed. These match the Ten Commandments, whose letters number 613, like the commandments. They are called sefirot from Psalm 19:2, 'the heavens declare (mesaprim) God's glory'. Later the ten utterances are counted one by one: first the supreme crown (Keter elyon); second wisdom, the beginning; third the quarry of the Torah, where God carved the letters; fourth His kindness, His right hand; fifth His great fire, His left; sixth the throne of glory. The count goes on, unevenly, to ten (§153–169).
