Everything hangs on it; from it, souls fly.

Isaiah 44:24 says God spread out the earth by Himself; the text rereads 'by Myself' as 'who was with Me?' Then God speaks: I planted this tree so that the whole world might delight in it. I spread 'all' through it and called its name All (kol), because everything hangs on it, comes out of it, needs it, looks to it and waits for it, and from it souls fly out in joy. God was alone when He made it, so no angel can claim to have come first. This is the book's first cosmic tree, rooted in the spreading out of the earth.
