מלבושים שהמלך מתלבשThe Garments of the King

malbushim she-ha-melekh mitlabbeshIn Gamatria ↗

Splendor for the court, armor for war, nothing for the queen.

Epithets like Compassionate and Gracious are not part of the King himself. They are like garments and armor he puts on. In peacetime a king dresses in splendor and celebrates with his servants. In war he wears mail, helmet and sword. At home with only his family he takes some of these off and is seen more plainly. Alone with the queen he takes off everything. In the same way YHVH clothes Himself in the other names according to what He does in the world. When He wants to show mercy He raises a banner engraved with El.
