תשובהReturn to the Tree

teshuvahIn Gamatria ↗

Cut from the branch, and grafted back where it broke.

The rabbis call Binah Teshuvah, return. Souls (neshamot) come from Binah, spirits (ruchot) from Tiferet, and the life-force (nefashot) from Malkhut, each bound to the next all the way up to Binah. When the nefesh commits a sin that carries karet, the Torah's penalty of being 'cut off', it is cut from the spirit it hung on and severed from the upper tree, with no way up to the World to Come. If it then mends its ways, it reattaches at the very place it was cut and rises back to Binah. Returning to the place one was lost from is what teshuvah means.
