אזן חוטם פהBreath and Gaze

ozen ḥotem pehIn Gamatria ↗

Breath becomes light; a gaze turns it into a vessel.

Four senses, sight, hearing, smell and speech, match the four letters of the divine name YHVH. Breath (hevel) goes out from the ears, the nostrils and the mouth. The ear's breath is finest and corresponds to neshamah. The nose's is coarser, ruach. The mouth's is coarsest, nefesh. The eyes give out no breath, only a gaze. That gaze strikes the place where the three breaths meet, and the roots of the vessels form there. Vital reads 'God saw the light, that it was good, and divided' (Genesis 1:4) as this gaze: a vessel is what divides and sets bounds for light.
