The seven lower sefirot broke because each stood apart, a 'public domain'. To be repaired they must be bound into one figure through three columns, a 'private domain'. So they are raised into the womb of Imma, where outside forces have no hold. Through the months of gestation the holy is sifted from the dross, like silver refined a second time. The pure becomes the body, and the waste leaves at birth. What is still unsifted turns to milk over twenty-four months of nursing. Only then come mature mind (mochin). This is why Ze'ir Anpin needs gestation, nursing and mind.
