VI1:9–12
קול ורוח ודבורBreath, Voice and Speech
kol ve-ruaḥ ve-diburIn Gamatria ↗
Breath from breath, water from breath, fire from water.
Chapter one now counts the sefirot as stages of emergence. One is the Breath (ruach) of the Living God: voice, breath and speech, which is the holy spirit. Two is breath from breath, in which He engraved and hewed the twenty-two letters. Three is water from breath, drawn from chaos and void, mud and clay, shaped like a garden bed, a wall and a roof. Only the Gra's text adds that snow was poured on and became earth (Job 37:6). Four is fire from water, from which He hewed the Throne of Glory, seraphim, ofanim, holy creatures and angels (Psalm 104:4).
