A gift is a post in the house, not a throne.
Humility is not counting oneself important for any reason. It must begin in thought, or it is only the false humility of hypocrites. Everyone has flaws, of nature, family, or deeds. Wisdom tempts most to pride, yet every sage errs and learns even from students. And the wise man only does what his nature allows, as a bird flies high and an ox pulls because that is how they are made. If you know much, you must teach; if you are rich, help; if strong, rescue. We are servants of one house, each at his post. In deed, humility has four parts: bearing oneself low, enduring insult, fleeing authority and honor, and honoring everyone. Bava ben Buta blessed a woman who broke something on his head, because her husband had told her to break it on the bava.
