לפי מעשי אני נקראNamed by His Deeds

The light never changes; only the name we catch it by.

When Moses asked God's name, he was told, 'I am called according to My deeds' (Shemot Rabbah): Elohim when judging, Tzevaot when warring against the wicked, El Shaddai when suspending sins, the four-letter Name when showing mercy. So each sefirah has its name — Ehyeh for Keter, Yah for Chokhmah, El for Chesed, Elohim for Gevurah, Adonai for Malkhut. When scripture moves from one name to another, the mode of conduct has changed. God never changes; the change is in the recipients, whose deeds He made the measure of how He acts.
