סטרא אחראThe Other Side

sitra achraIn Gamatria ↗

The husk guards the fruit by trying to steal it.

As God made holy worlds as agents of good, He created agents of evil, the sitra achra, 'other side', for the sake of free choice; in the end they serve the good. They tempt, accuse and punish. The Zohar's parable: a king hires a harlot to tempt his son; if the prince resists, his reward is great, and she is rewarded too, for she secretly did the king's will. These forces are klippot, husks around the fruit of holiness. Of Ezekiel's four husks, three are wholly evil; the fourth, Nogah, 'glow', can turn to good.
