Mend the channel; the river remembers its way.

Sin is like a fool who turns a spring's channel away from the gardens and into a dung heap: he wastes the water, breaks the pipe, and waters what should stay dry — the side of impurity. Return repairs the broken channels and sends the flow back where it belongs, matched to the damage done. So teshuvah is read as tashuv Heh, 'the Heh returns': the upper Mother comes back over her children, and the lower Heh is rejoined to the Vav (Tikkunei Zohar 63).
