A palace child cannot plead it did not know.
Fear of sin begins with even unintended sin. The soul is fine and spiritual, drawn from a high place, so every flaw darkens it, as oil or ink spilled on white clothes stains them even by accident (Ecclesiastes 9:8). A Tanchuma parable sharpens it: the king forgives a villager, but not a child of the palace who knows the court's ways. The body is the villager. The soul, which rises each night to stand before the King, is the palace child.
