Light passed on, nothing lost, and never cut away.
Shaltiel finds a contradiction: Ein Sof is simple, yet the books say the sefirot were hidden in it before emanation. Yehoyada answers that such books mislead anyone without a teacher. God knows Himself, and in that knowledge knows all things, before they exist as after; He is knower, knowing and known. The sefirot were 'hidden' in Him as a house is in the builder's mind. Then did part of Him go out? No. They are newly made, like a candle lit from a candle: from His power, new, and the first loses nothing. But not of His substance, like a drop to the sea. And unlike a lit candle, they cannot stand without Him; they are bound to Him as a flame to its coal. What they are in themselves no one can know. Ten sefirot belimah, without graspable essence.
