A perfect giver gives every rung that can receive.
Shaltiel asks for reasons, not hints. Kabbalists avoid proofs, Yehoyada says, lest a refuted proof discredit the tradition, but he will try. Could God have made only this world? Either He could not make a higher one, which limits Him, or He could and did not, which makes the Good stingy, for the nature of the good is to do good. So finer worlds stand above ours, up to Keter Elyon, the first effect. Why not make Keter His equal? What was preceded by non-being cannot equal what exists necessarily, and that is no lack in Him. Each world, emanated through more intermediaries, is coarser than the one above and receives all it can hold. There are four worlds, for the four letters of the Name, and ten levels in each, as the spheres and the angels show.
