נגלה אליהוElijah's Chain

nigla EliyahuIn Gamatria ↗

Where the chain wore thin, Elijah came to relink it.

The second premise lists the help the Sages had in reading the Torah. They had a tradition passed teacher to teacher back to Moses. They had prophecy, which, the Talmud says, passed to the sages when the Temple fell. They heard the bat kol, the heavenly voice. Some spoke face to face with Elijah, who taught them laws. R. Shimon bar Yoḥai, after thirteen years in the cave, surpassed all his colleagues; there, the Tikkunim says, Elijah and the souls of the heavenly academy revealed hidden secrets to him. His students wrote the Zohar so that only one with a received tradition could follow it. Later, by the testimony of Avodat ha-Kodesh, Elijah appeared to R. David Av Beit Din, to his son the Ra'avad, and to R. Isaac the Blind, whose students passed the wisdom to the Ramban.
