A garment may carry the name of what it hides.
A questioner finds a contradiction in Vital's Mevo She'arim. One passage says the vessels of Keter did not break at all. Another says Keter's netzaḥ, hod and yesod did break. Irgas answers with a rule: the lowest limbs of every higher level belong to the level below, because they descend to become its mind. What broke in Keter is therefore counted with Abba and Imma. He widens this into a key. An inner thing is sometimes called by the name of the outer thing that clothes it, and the outer by the name of what enters it. 'Remember it always,' he writes, 'and you will understand many difficulties.' It explains why the Tikkunim call Abba and Imma the right and left arms, and why it calls the upper Imma the sun, a name that usually belongs to Ze'ir Anpin.
