גדול השלוםThe Sack of Flour

Peace is the only vessel that holds a blessing.
Great is peace: no vessel holds blessing like it, so the priestly blessing ends with peace, and even angels need it. Baseless hatred, worse than idolatry by the Talmud's count (Yoma 9b), grows from a mouth used to cursing. The Zohar says a spoken curse flies through the air, joins an evil spirit, and waits for the curser's bad hour. A quarrel is like a breach in a dam. Kaidanover copies a letter from the holy fellowship in the Land of Israel: no quarrel lasts among them; the younger asks forgiveness and the elder embraces him. R. Shlomo Sagis once took a sack of flour off R. Menaḥem Galante's shoulder and swore he alone would carry it to the Galante house. R. Mas'ud did the same with R. Avraham Galante's jug of water.
