What you learned all your life will walk before you.
The Zohar says a mitzvah rises and stands before God saying, 'So-and-so made me,' and God sets it to watch over him for good all that day. A sin stands there too, saying the same, and waits to destroy him, until repentance removes it from God's sight. Kaidanover singles out withholding a worker's wages: every breath the laborer breathed out at his work rises and stands before God. Rav Hamnuna Saba paid at once, saying, 'Take your soul that you left in my keeping.' The Midrash says each mitzvah gives a person a guarding angel. A pious man in a small village owned one book, tractate Ḥagigah, and studied it all his life. When he died, it took the form of a woman, walked before him, and brought him to the Garden of Eden.
