ברא מזכה אבאA Son Acquits His Father

bera mezakkeh abbaIn Gamatria ↗

A child's Kaddish can lift a father out of the fire.

The Ari could name every sin a person had done for fifty years, and sinners fled from his gaze. How much greater the shame before God, where angels testify and one's own hand signs the record. Kaidanover tells from the Midrash HaNe'elam of a man near the mountains of Ararat who saw a sinner hauling bundles of thorns that two keepers of Gehinnom set alight. The sinner had forgotten his own name. He came from the Upper Galilee and had left a small son. The traveller found the boy playing in a slaughterhouse, clothed him and gave him to a teacher. In time the boy read the haftarah, said Kaddish, and was called Rabbi. The father came in a dream: each step freed him, and the last crowned him. So mourners must answer 'amen, yehei shmei rabba' in full.
