Speak the words and the light comes down.

Of all the influences God sends His creatures, one is highest: the nearest thing in creation to His own true existence, a share of His glory. God bound it to something He created for this purpose, the Torah: the words of the Five Books, then the Prophets and Writings. Speaking those words draws this influence to the speaker, and understanding them draws it to the one who understands. Deeper understanding draws a higher degree, from the wording to the plain intent to its depths. Yet in His kindness every level draws some, so even one who only recites receives a portion.
