Where His unity is spoken, the dark gives way.

The first daily service is the Shema: testifying to God's unity and accepting His kingship. Every being exists only by His will and acts only by power He lends it. Evil seems to defy Him, yet all its turnings lead in the end to creation's completion. The root of evil's strength is that His unity is hidden; the root of its undoing is the revealing of that unity, which will one day be complete (Zechariah 14:9). Israel already testify to it now ('you are My witnesses,' Isaiah 43:12). When they accept His kingship daily, ready to give their lives, evil is subdued and blessing flows.
