Breathed from within, it never quite left the breath.

The second soul is 'truly a part of God above'. Scripture says God 'breathed into his nostrils', and the Zohar adds that one who blows, blows from within: breath carries a person's innermost life. Souls are said to arise in God's thought, the way a child is drawn from the father's mind. That drop descends through the worlds until it becomes the souls of even the simplest people, just as a fingernail forms from the father's seed. Even so, the root stays bound to its source in supernal Wisdom, still drawing life from it.
