חבל נחלתוThe Rope Retied

Where it broke and was tied, it is doubled.
'Jacob is the rope of His inheritance': the soul is like a rope with one end tied above and the other below. Nothing separates a person from God but sin, which goes against the divine will. The rope is woven of 613 fine strands, one for each commandment; a transgression cuts a strand, and the gravest sins cut the whole cord. Even then a trace of the divine soul remains. Teshuvah through more Torah study (two pages where one used to read one) reties it, and where a rope is retied it is doubled and redoubled.
