Awe and love: one wing will not rise.

The root of service is awe. Before study or a commandment, one should reflect that the King who fills and surrounds all worlds stands over him and searches his heart, then accept His kingship. Love alone does not lift a person, any more than a bird flies on one wing; awe and love are the two wings. Awe alone is also only one wing, the service of a servant; one must also wake the natural hidden love, the service of a son. Every act should aim to bind one's soul, and all Israel's, to its source.
