To take for the giver's sake is itself a way of giving.

The worlds descend as far as this one, a place of body and soul, a time of ruin and repair. The body, the desire for self, comes through the impure system and stays under it until thirteen; from then, mitzvot done to please the Maker slowly turn that desire around and draw down a holy soul. To receive for the giver's sake counts as giving, as a gift accepted by a distinguished man betroths. Sameness of form is cleaving, dvekut. The impure system had to exist: one cannot correct what is not in him.
