The shell must pass so that what it holds can last.

Why do we seem so low, and how can the Eternal make what perishes? The body that dies is not our true body. That one, eternal and whole, already stands in Ein Sof, formed by the third state. What we carry now is its shell, the desire to receive for oneself, given only for the work, since we can correct only what we have. Its mortality is the guarantee of our eternity: were the shell to last, our separation would last forever.
