Four lights, two of them only there to hold the others together.

Pinchas was born from two sparks, one of Joseph and one of Jethro. When he killed Zimri, the souls of Nadav and Avihu entered him by ibbur. Two new souls, both named Elijah (one from Gad and one from Benjamin), were then added to bind the old souls together. That is why the sages say 'Elijah in four'. After the incident of Jephthah's daughter, Nadav and Avihu left him and went to Samuel. The Gad-Elijah ascended in the storm, and the Benjamin-Elijah is the one who comes down to speak with the righteous.
