The body is a coat; the one who wears it has five names.

The person is the spirit within the body, and the body is only its garment. The soul has five names, from bottom to top: nefesh, ruach, neshamah, chayah and yechidah. Nefesh comes from Asiyah, ruach from Yetzirah and neshamah from Beriah. In Atzilut the five come from the five partzufim: Nukva, Zeir Anpin, Ima, Abba and Arich Anpin, and yechidah is so called because Arich has no female counterpart. Every world contains all five within itself, so the division repeats endlessly.
