The longer the rest above, the brighter the arrival below.
A soul rising out of the klippot must first be 'gestated' in the womb of the supernal Malkhut, to be cleansed of their filth before it comes into the world. How long it stays depends on its grade: twelve months for truly new souls, nine for those that stayed in Adam, seven for Cain-and-Abel souls, forty days for reincarnated souls, and three days for converts. The longer the stay, the greater the soul's light. A soul in that womb can catch another soul before it falls, by placing a 'ruach' of itself inside it, and chains of up to ten souls can form this way. The first is like a father to the rest and shares in their merits.
