What fell from the shoulder sleeps in a shoulder of shadow.

When Adam sinned his limbs 'fell away' and his stature shrank to a hundred cubits. The book explains this as most souls dropping into the depths of the klippot. Each soul fell into the matching limb of a 'man of the klippah' (adam beliya'al), and the deeper its share in the sin, the deeper it fell. There it put on a garment of klippah that wraps it all its life. Cain and Abel sinned again and sank their own sparks further.
