Not every voice within is yours, nor every leaning.

Souls of the wicked who are not yet admitted to Gehinnom can enter living people in one of two ways. Some enter openly and speak through them, telling what is happening to them. Others attach secretly as an ibbur, and when the person sins they strengthen him and push him toward evil, the mirror image of a tzaddik's ibbur, which helps him do good. This too can serve the wandering soul's repair or hold an already wicked person in his ways. When its fixed time is over, that soul may be born in a full gilgul.
