Each light waits at the door until the one below is whole.

The nefesh enters at birth. If his deeds are worthy, the ruach enters when he completes thirteen years and the neshamah at twenty. No higher part enters until the part below it is completely repaired. If the nefesh is not finished in one life, it returns alone, and only in a later life can the ruach join it, and after that the neshamah. Once all three are repaired he no longer needs to return.
