האב והרבParents and Teachers

ha-av ve-ha-ravIn Gamatria ↗

From one, a halo that moves you; from one, a glow that stays; from the teacher, breath.

A father gives part of his soul to his child as a garment that guides him, which is the reason for honouring parents. If the two souls are more than 500 levels apart, they merge permanently. A teacher places his ruach in a student forever, a stronger bond than a parent's, which is why honouring a teacher comes first. From the father the child receives surrounding light (makif) and from the mother inner light (pnimi), shaped by their intentions at conception. Over time the makif overpowers the pnimi, and a quick, light child shows a strong makif from the father, a slow one a strong pnimi from the mother.
