In a return, the true reincarnation is only the particular damaged spark. The soul's other, already-repaired parts come along as ibbur and share in its merits but not its sins, which is why reincarnation has an end. A 'double gilgul' is two souls entering one body together at birth and staying until death, provided they share one root. Up to three old souls with one new one can be in one body ('upon the fourth generation'), never more. The body is named after its main soul, and the others live there as guests.
